Mumbai, Mar 20 (IANS): A benchmark index for Indian markets Tuesday closed, amid high volatility, on a lacklustre note, snapping a three-day losing streak.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,308.89 points, closed at 17,309.28 points (provisional), up 35.91 points or 0.21 percent compared to its previous close at 17,273.37 points.
The Sensex had touched a high of 17,410.13 points and fell to a low of 17,211.73 points during intra-day trading.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also ended at 5,273.45 points, up 13.75 points or 0.26 percent from its previous close.
Broader markets ended moderately higher with the BSE 500 index nudging up 0.39 percent. The BSE midcap and smallcap indices ended flat.
