Bantwal, Mar 19:
The rubber estate owned by Sitaram Bhat and Laxmi at Muliyal, near Adyanadka, that comes under the limits of Yenmakaje gram panchayat, which was gutted in a fire a few days ago, was reportedly in flames due to short circuit on Sunday March 18 at 3 pm.

The city fire brigade personnel rushed to the estate and extinguished the fire that gutted an acre of rubber plantation of nearly 300 plants. The telephone cables of BSNL were also gutted in the fire.

The swift action by fire fighters prevented the fire from spreading to larger areas. The loss has been ascertained to be approximately Rs 10 lac.

Fire fighters Rajesh, Krishnappa, Jaya, Shivaji, Anand Naik, and V Somanath were led by fire brigade officer Sundar. In a similar fire breakout three days ago, about 400 rubber plants worth Rs 15 lac were gutted on the same estate.
