KK Mesmerizes Mangaloreans at Corporation Bank's Foundation Day

Mangalore, Mar 13: Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, the talented and gifted singer of pop music mesmerised Mangaloreans, especially the young ones, with his scintillating Hindi numbers during Corporation Bank's 107th Foundation Day.
The programme was held at Dr T M A Pai International Convention Centre, near Lalbagh on Monday, March 12.
KK enthralled the audience with his popular songs like 'Ankhom me teri ajab si', 'Yaron dosti', 'Mera pehla pehla pyar' and many more. The jubilant crowd went crazy and the singer repeated the lines of some of his songs to acknowledge their appreciation.
Corporation Bank, which was founded on March 12, 1906 with an initial capital of Rs 5000 has become a premium public sector bank with a total business of more than Rs 2,20,000 crore today. This along with various other activities of the bank was shown through a video documentary at the beginning of the stage function.
The function started witha prayer song by Umesh Shenoy, Jayaram Shenoy, Shrilatha and Kavita. Ajai Kumar, Chairman, Amarlal Dhalatani and Ashwini Kumar, executive directors, then lighted the lamp and inaugurated the foundation day. This was preceded by offering floral tribute to the portrait of the Bank's founder president Khan Bahadur Haji Abdullah Haji Kasim Saheb Bahadur.
Ajai Kumar, chairman and managing director, Corporation Bank in his welcome address said, "It is our primary objective to uphold the core values that our founding fathers had 107 years ago."
A new service by name Corpbank application for tablets, androids, smart phones, ipads was unveiled by the chairman during the occasion. Corporation Bank is the first public sector bank in the country to introduce this service.
The bank gave donations worth of Rs 1.07 lac each to six of the charitable institutions. Representatives of the Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore and Seva Bharathi were present and received the cheques from the chairman during the occasion.
The bank felicitated five luminaries with lifetime achievement awards for their exemplary service to the society. They included Padma Bhushan Dr B M Hegde, Padmashree Dr B R Shetty, Padmashree Dr B Ramana Rao, Padmashree Dr Kadri Gopalanath and Padma Bhushan Ela Bhatt. The award included a shawl, memento, citation and a garland.
"I feel humbled by this gesture from one of the greatest banks of our country. Let us not divide the world through race, caste and religion," said Dr B M Hegde in his acceptance speech, "It is the personal touch of the bank staff which matters the most when you talk about success."
Dr B R Shetty requested the Bank to think seriously about uplifting the hospital opposite the Alankar cinema theatre in Udupi, which the founding president of the bank had started. He offered his help in the event the bank takes up steps in this regard. Ela Bhatt could not attend the function and Vandana Shah received the honour on her behalf.
Ashwini Kumar, executive director proposed the vote of the thanks.
