Goa: Man arrested for beating wife to death over alcohol consumption habit

Fatorda, May 2: In a shocking case of domestic violence, a man has been arrested for allegedly beating his wife to death over her alcohol consumption in the Mungul locality of Fatorda, South Goa.

The accused, identified as Krishna Roy, a native of Kolkata, was arrested by Fatorda police late Thursday evening. According to police officials, the incident occurred on April 30 at around 8:30 PM, when an argument escalated into a violent assault.

Roy reportedly used a wooden stick and a belt to brutally beat his wife, resulting in fatal injuries. A postmortem conducted at the Goa Medical College confirmed that the woman died of a severe head injury caused by blunt force trauma. Multiple fresh injuries were found across her body, indicating sustained assault.

“The cause of death was certified as head injury consequent to blunt force impact in a person with multiple injuries all over the body caused by a blunt weapon,” a police spokesperson told Daijiworld.

Authorities have preserved the victim’s viscera for chemical analysis and other forensic samples for serological and DNA profiling. The body has been handed over to the family for last rites.

Fatorda Police Inspector Nathan de Almeida is leading the investigation. Further proceedings are underway as officials await forensic reports to strengthen the case.
