Udupi: Three arrested for running IPL illegal betting racket

Udupi, Apr 24: The Udupi CEN police arrested three persons for operating an illegal betting racket linked to ongoing IPL matches.

Acting on a tip-off, Ramachandra Nayak, inspector of the CEN police station, led a raid near Bhujang Park in Ajjarkad, Udupi taluk. The accused were found using the mobile application "PARKER" to place bets on the IPL T20 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) held in Hyderabad.

 The arrested individuals have been identified as Sandeep (34) from Nooji, Sriraj (33) from Beluru village, and Madhukar (44) from Molahalli, all residents of Kundapur taluk. They were allegedly collecting money from the public, guiding them on placing bets, and assisting them in downloading the illegal app.

The police seized Rs 81,700 in cash, four mobile phones, a car bearing registration number KA-20-MF-1440 used in the operation, 20 screenshots related to betting activities, and duplicate documents including the vehicle's RC.

A case has been registered at the CEN police station, and investigations are ongoing.
