Youth of ‘Team Abhimata’ launch river cleanup drive of 'Pavanasita' at Mabukala

Media Release

Brahmavar, Apr 15: In the face of rising environmental concerns due to widespread littering, even the riverbanks have not been spared. In a commendable move, the youth of 'Team Abhimata' under the banner of Moodugiliyaru Janaseva Trust have initiated a cleanup drive 'Pavanasita' to restore the Sita river near Mabukala.

The initiative, titled Pavana Sita, aims to clean the riverbed and raise public awareness about environmental responsibility. The campaign has received appreciation from all quarters, with dignitaries and the general public alike lauding the efforts of the youth volunteers from Team Abhimata.

The Sita river, which flows from east to west through Mabukala, has unfortunately become a dumping ground for the public. The area beneath the bridge is littered with items such as eggshells, waste from chicken stalls, hair, used diapers, and discarded liquor bottles.

Over 50 dedicated youth volunteers collected the waste and transported it in more than 100 large bags to a designated dumping yard. The campaign is set to continue on April 20, with participation from environmental activists and representatives of various organizations expected to join the mission.
