Washington, Apr 8: In what is being described as a rare moment of divergence between two influential figures, Tesla CEO Elon Musk is reported to have made direct appeals to US President Donald Trump to reconsider and roll back the newly imposed tariffs on imports. However, according to a report by the Washington Post, these appeals were unsuccessful.

The disagreement, which unfolded over the weekend, highlights growing concerns in the business community following Trump’s announcement of a 10% baseline tariff on all imports into the United States, alongside higher duties targeting specific countries. Though there was no official response from either the White House or Elon Musk, sources familiar with the matter confirmed that the Tesla chief raised his objections during a virtual address at a congress hosted by Italy's right-wing League Party.
