Bengaluru, Apr 8: The results of the second PU (Pre-University) examinations, which were conducted from March 1 to March 20, were announced on Tuesday, April 8. The Karnataka education department held a press conference in Bengaluru to declare the results.
Udupi has emeged as topper in state with pass percentage of 93.90 % and Dakshina Kannada stands second with 93.57 % while Bengaluru folllows at third place with 85.36% and Yadgir district stands at last place with 48.45%,

Amoolya Kamath of Expert PU college, Mangaluru has emerged state topper scoring 599 out of 600 in Science while Deepashree of Canara PU College has also topped state in commerce with a score of 599 in 600. Deeksha R, a student of Vagdevi PU College in Tirthahalli in Shivamogga district, is the joint topper in the PU exams by securing 599 out of 600 in the science stream. Deeksha’s parents are teachers.
Lorry driver's daughter tops state in Arts
In Arts, Sanjana Bai of Sa Indu PU College, Ballari and daughter of a lorry driver has topped state with 597 out 600 score while Nimala K also of Ballari has secured second rank in Arts. The subjectwise marks scored by state topper Amoolya Kamath are as follows: English - 99, Sanskrit - 100, Physics - 100, Chemistry - 100, Mathematics - 100 and Computer Science - 100.
Meanwhile, three Udupi students have secured ranks within first 10 at state level. In Science, Asthi S Shetty has secured 4th rank and Bhoomika R Hegde 5th with 595 score while Sahana Nayak with 594 marks in Commerce has secured 6th rank.
Amoolya Kamath aims for Engineering, surpasses expectations
Amoolya Kamath aspires to become an engineer. While she hoped for a top rank, her lecturers were confident in her potential to achieve it.
The daughter of Dr. Dinesh Kamath from Bantwal, Amoolya follows in the footsteps of her elder sister, who secured the second rank in her SSLC exams and is currently pursuing engineering in Bengaluru.
Commerce topper Deepashree dreams of becoming a CA
Deepashree, a commerce stream topper from Canara PU College, admits she never expected to top the exams. With a score of 98.24% in her SSLC, she now aims to pursue Chartered Accountancy (CA).
Hailing from Bikarnakatte, she is the daughter of Suma and Ashok.
Girls outshine boys once again in this year's exams
Education minister Madhu Bangarappa declared that the overall pass percentage stands at 73.45 per cent, with 4.68 lac students passing the board exams out of 6.37 lac who appeared for the 2024-2025 second PUC examinations. A total of 6,37,805 students including five transgenders appeared across the state, out of which 4,68,439 students passed.
This year, 2,92,111 male students took the exams, with 1,99,227 successfully clearing them. On the other hand, 3,45,694 female students appeared for the exams, and an impressive 2,69,212 passed.
Addressing a press conference in Bengaluru, minister Madhu Bangarappa said, “Girls have outperformed boys across all three streams recording a 77.88 per cent pass rate.”
He emphasised, “This is the result of the first examination. Two more rounds of exams will be held for students who haven’t passed. Our department has made the decision to hold three exams for students. The second exam will be held on April 24, and the third on June 9. We are not declaring any student as failed.”
“We are only announcing the results of the passed candidates. Since the exam process is still ongoing, students have the opportunity to appear for the second and third attempts. Once the entire process is complete, the final result percentages will be updated accordingly,” he noted.
Government colleges achieved a 57 per cent pass rate, aided colleges 62 per cent, and unaided colleges registered 82 per cent, he stated.
As many as 18,845 students scored below 50% marks, 82.54% passed in science, 53.29% in Arts and 76.07% in Commerce.
“We have issued marksheets only to students who passed the examination. As the process is ongoing, I want to assure students that they have second and third opportunities. Until this process is complete, no one will be declared as failed,” said Madhu Bangarappa.
“Only after the third attempt will failed candidates be officially declared. The dates for the second and third exams have already been announced to facilitate special classes for those in need. This year, the examination fee has been waived for students of all categories,” he announced.
“I appeal to students to make use of the second and third exams and ensure they pass. What we have announced is only the result of the first exam,” he added.
Commenting on the results, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated, “Congratulations to all the students who have passed the Second PUC examination. I wish that your hard work and consistent practice will take you to even greater heights of success.
“To the students who have not cleared the exams, do not give in to disappointment or anxiety, and please don’t take any hasty decisions. Life is much bigger, and there will certainly be another chance to face the exam and pass with better marks. Do not let despair take over -- stay calm and composed,” he said.
"Heartfelt congratulations to L R Sanjana Bai, Amoolya Kamath, Deeksha R, and Deepashree, the four girls who have secured ranks in various streams. May your achievements inspire many others,” Siddaramaiah added.
The results will be available on the official website, https://karresults.nic.in/ 1:30 pm onwards. Students can check their results by logging in with their credentials provided by the PU board.
