Udupi kidnapping case: Zeena, Akram appear before high court through lawyer

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Apr 4: The Karnataka high court on Friday, April 4, heard the habeas corpus petition filed by the parents of Zeena Meril from Udupi, who had been previously accused of being kidnapped. During the hearing, both Zeena Meril and Akram appeared before the court through their legal representative.

In her statement to the court, Zeena Meril clarified that she had not been kidnapped and had left with Akram voluntarily, of her own accord. When Zeena’s mother expressed her wish to speak with her daughter, the judge facilitated a private conversation between them in the judge’s chamber.

Following the discussion, Zeena’s mother requested the court to allow her daughter to return home with her. However, Zeena Meril refused, stating that she had plans to have a registered marriage with Akram on April 19, 2025.

She assured the court that she would meet her mother after the wedding and confirmed that they maintained a good relationship.

The court has scheduled the next hearing for April 22 and has directed all concerned parties to be present for the proceedings.
