Mumbai, Apr 4: A buzz of excitement filled the Chembur Karnataka High School auditorium on Saturday, March 29, as the Chembur Karnataka Sangha hosted its glittering 21st Annual ‘Literature Meet-2025’.
The event, marking a significant cultural milestone for the Sangha, was graced by the honourable justice Ashok D Shetty from the Bombay High Court, who not only inaugurated the ceremony but also presented the prestigious annual awards that were eagerly anticipated by the community.

Justice Ashok D Shetty, who has long-standing ties with the Sangha, took a moment during his address to reflect on its contributions to education and community development.
"I have had a close relationship with the Chembur Karnataka Sangha for many years. I was privileged to collaborate with advocate H K Sudhakar Arate, the then president, when we were starting the law college. May the educational initiatives of this institution, which play a pivotal role in shaping good citizens, continue to progress effortlessly and make the lives of all those involved shine brightly," he said, adding a personal touch to his speech.
The event was held under the able leadership of Chandrakant S Nayak, president of the Sangha. A notable gathering included former president advocate H K Sudhakar Arate, general secretary Vishwanath S Shenava, treasurer Arun Kumar Shetty, and cultural committee secretary Prabhakar B Bolar. Their presence added weight to an already grand occasion, as the Sangha’s key figures joined hands to recognize excellence in various fields.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Sangha’s prestigious awards, which were a testament to outstanding contributions in literature, education, and culture. The following distinguished individuals were honored for their exemplary work:

The event also celebrated the lifelong dedication of the awardees to their respective fields.
The Chembur Karnataka Sangha, which began its journey more than seven decades ago with just a handful of students, has now evolved into a thriving educational institution. From a humble beginning, it has grown into a multi-faceted institution that now includes primary and secondary schools, a night college, and a law college.
The Sangha’s significant contribution to education has made it a source of pride for the community, and every year, the literature meet continues to be an eagerly awaited event.
In a delightful cultural segment, the audience was treated to a stunning performance by the Virabhayandar Yakshapriya troupe, led by Nagesh Kumar Polali.
The troupe’s young performers staged an impressive Yakshagana performance titled Kadamba Kautike, a traditional art form that delighted the audience with its vibrant storytelling.
The event also saw emotional moments, as Prabhakar B Bolar, cultural secretary, extended a warm welcome to everyone, and Vijayata Suvarna, Lakshatarav, Bharati Shetty, and Archana Poojari took turns reading out the congratulatory letters for the awardees.
Shyamala Uchchil, a faculty member, skilfully narrated the programme, while Vishwanath S Shenava expressed heartfelt thanks to all present, closing the evening on a note of gratitude.
As the event concluded, the Chembur Karnataka Sangha stood proud not only of its past achievements but also of its promise for the future.
Chandrakant Nayak, in his presidential address, spoke of the long journey the institution has undergone. "What began as a modest initiative with a few children’s education has now blossomed into a full-fledged institution offering primary, secondary, and higher education. Every year, the literature meet provides us with the opportunity to honor those who have contributed to the cultural and educational landscape. The vision of those who started the Chembur Karnataka Sangha is truly worthy of admiration," he concluded.
The event was a testament to the Sangha’s ongoing commitment to nurturing talent, fostering culture, and promoting the Kannada language.
