Agartala, Apr 4: The Tripura government is reportedly preparing to file FIRs against 34 students accused of submitting forged certificates to secure scholarships meant for deserving candidates.
According to official sources, the alleged fraud came to light during a routine verification process conducted by the state’s scholarship committee. The investigation revealed discrepancies in the certificates submitted by the students, raising concerns over the authenticity of their academic credentials.

“The matter is being taken very seriously. Such malpractices not only deprive genuine students of their rightful opportunities but also undermine the integrity of the scholarship system,” a senior official stated.
Authorities are now considering stringent action against the accused students to set a deterrent example. The government is expected to lodge formal complaints under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to forgery and cheating.
Meanwhile, education department officials have called for enhanced scrutiny mechanisms to prevent similar incidents in the future. They emphasized the need for a more robust verification process to safeguard the credibility of state-sponsored scholarships.
The Tripura government’s move to initiate legal proceedings reflects its firm stance against fraudulent practices and its commitment to ensuring fairness and transparency in the education system.
