Patna, Mar 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a blistering attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, accusing him of tarnishing Bihar’s reputation both nationally and internationally through the infamous fodder scam.
Speaking at a Cooperative Department event at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna, Shah questioned, "What did Lalu Prasad do for the poor?"
Escalating his criticism, he remarked, "The tenures of Lalu and Rabri Devi will be remembered for jungle raj, lawlessness, and corruption."

Shah contrasted Bihar’s past under RJD rule with its progress under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), asserting that governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has transformed the state. "Under PM Awas Yojana, 40 lakh houses have been constructed, providing better living conditions for the people of Bihar. But under RJD rule, the state was plagued with extortion, hooliganism, dacoity, kidnappings, and rampant corruption," he added.
The Union Cooperation Minister further highlighted the achievements of the NDA government, emphasizing that Bihar’s development has accelerated due to PM Modi’s leadership. "RJD’s jungle raj will be remembered as a dark period in Bihar’s history," he asserted, adding that whenever the RJD held power, the state suffered setbacks, whereas NDA rule has fostered progress.
Comparing financial allocations under different regimes, he stated: "During Lalu’s tenure as a Union Minister in the UPA government, Bihar received Rs 2.8 lakh crore from the Centre. In contrast, under PM Modi’s 10-year tenure, Bihar has received Rs 9.23 lakh crore—significantly more."
Shah also made a key promise to revive sugar mills if the NDA returns to power in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
Declaring that the upcoming elections will be fought under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, he urged voters to ensure an NDA victory with a massive mandate, guaranteeing continued growth and stability in Bihar.
Earlier in the day, the Home Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various development projects worth over Rs 800 crore in Patna, reinforcing the NDA’s commitment to Bihar’s progress.
