Mumbai: Inter-Religious Dialogue Held at St Joseph Church

Mumbai, Jan 16: The lively and dynamic St Joseph Church Celebrated the Infant Jesus feast and conducted an Inter-Religious Dialogue session at the Church Grounds here on Sunday January 15 at 6.30 pm.

Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay Dr Agnelo Gracias presided over the solemn festal Eucharistic celebration along with more than eight priests.

Soon after the mass the Inter-religious dialogue session began with a prayer dance by Holy Cross School children. Dr Agnelo Gracias, presided over the event with various speakers from across the religious spectrum. Dignitaries like Bhagvati Kripa Devi Dasi from Bhati Vedanta, Islamic Vision Reaseach Center director Dr Ahamad M H Shaikh, secretary of Gurudwara, Paramjit Singh Matharu were present for the event. The parish priest Fr Dominic Vas welcomed the dignitaries and felicitated them with a bouquet.

There were splendid dances and skits on the theme 'Save the Girl Child'. As part of the programme, students of St Joseph School presented a meaningful skit on the theme save the Girl Child, Mime act was presented by St Joseph school children. Swearing an oath was done by Johnson Saldhana. The programme was conducted to bring together the members of different religions in order to have communal harmony and to build a peaceful Mira Road.

The programme was compered by Arthur and Bro. Nitesh.  Norbert concluded the session by a vote of thanks to all those who made the programme a success.

    No brother,all religion are not same today. Rather they all are originated from a single TRUE RELIGION Religion.Almost all(not all)the religion 2dy are manipulated by the ppl in the passage of time.
    So if u want to know whc religion is perfect then u need the some basic knowledge of every religion scriptures.

    Mr. Ganesh,

    In a city like Mumbai, who cares who is Christian or Muslim or a Hindu ? Have you witnessed 25st or 31st Dec. ? Same scenario on Ganesh Visarjan, Janmashthami, Diwali or Eid. People are on the street like celebrating gypsies. People mingle without consciousness of religious belonging. You feel like one nation, one family. This does not apply for celebrations alone - they weep together during disasters too i.e. Mumbai attacks.

    Let BJP win once in Mumbai all scene will change ! We have endured it in Karnataka !

    Very nice to see all religious leaders at St.Joseph. Bombay is a fanatastics place one can enjoy free minded people who least worry about communal theory. GOOD job people. We don't want to know the details picture tells us the details of love, peace which makes good people happy and evil one to think evil or hatred.God bless to all

    It`s good to have public forums like this, but in reality has any difference or change taken place in people`s religious thinking, views and practices taken place over the years? I very much doubt. In the national interest, it is better and will do a lot good if one confines his/her religious faiths, beliefs and following to one himself/herself, rather than publicly displaying. That is my opinion anyway.

    Where's the details of the dialogue. This seems to be just some cultural event show. Please post the topics related to the dialogue and the views of the various representatives from their respective religion. I want to know what kind of sameness theory is being propounded by Hinduism inculturating Christians and what clandestine bigotry the muslim mullah propagated there. Simple question, if all religions are the same why then convert people to so called other faiths.

    Even though all religions have
    their foundation and roots in
    GOD, and do believe unanimously
    that GOD is the Creator of the
    universe and the inhabitans but
    more blood shed and killing have
    taken place through religious
    fight which is a very terrible
    and sad story to read.

    It is praise-worthy that people
    of different religious are getting
    together in a friendly atmosphere
    to have a social fellowship. When
    such get together events are
    repeated, it will open wider doors
    of peace and unity in our community. Great movement towards
    peace and harmony.
