Disaster averted: Mumbai-Amravati Express drags truck for 500 metres in Jalgaon

Jalgaon, Mar 14: A major tragedy was narrowly avoided in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district when the Mumbai-Amravati Express collided with a wheat-laden truck and dragged it for nearly 500 meters before coming to a halt.

The incident occurred at an unmanned level crossing, where the truck reportedly got stuck on the tracks. Despite the loco pilot’s swift response, the train was unable to stop in time, resulting in the collision. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, and passengers remained unharmed.

Railway authorities, along with local police, reached the site promptly to clear the wreckage and ensure the restoration of normal train operations. A detailed investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the mishap and ascertain if negligence played a role.

The incident has reignited concerns over safety at unmanned railway crossings, with officials stressing the need for stricter preventive measures to avert such incidents in the future.
