Mangaluru, March 12: The long-awaited extension of the Mangaluru-Kabaka-Puttur Passenger Train to Subrahmanya Junction is set to receive the green signal by the end of March, confirmed Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta.

Chowta made the announcement after meeting Minister of State for Railways V Somanna in New Delhi on Wednesday. The Railway Board has already approved the extension, and the service is expected to begin soon.

MP Chowta also praised the Railway Ministry for its historic decision to extend the Mangaluru-Kabaka-Puttur passenger train to Subrahmanya. He also thanked the Railway Minister on behalf of the people of Dakshina Kannada for this long-awaited decision. “I extend my gratitude to the Railway Minister on behalf of the people of Dakshina Kannada. This decision has been a long-standing demand, and it’s a proud moment for all of us,” he said.

Furthermore, Capt Chowta also expressed his gratitude to the Railway Board, South Western Railway, and Southern Railway officials for their efforts in facilitating this extension.

He further mentioned that this long-delayed demand for the train extension has now become a reality due to consistent follow-ups with the ministry and railway authorities. He stated, “Once the minister finalises the inauguration date, the train service from Mangaluru to Subrahmanya will commence by March-end.”
