Mangaluru: St Aloysius University observes National Science Day

Mangaluru, Feb 28: The School of Physical and Life Sciences, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), organised National Science Day celebration on February 28 at the Robert Sequeira Auditorium of the university. The theme of this year’s National Science Day 2025 was ‘Scientific empowerment of young scientists for a developing India’.

Dr Raviprakash, professor of physics, MIT Institute of Technology, Manipal and co-director of academics, MIT, was the chief guest and spoke about the amazing achievements of Indian scientists and inspired the young scientists.

He revealed India's achievements in the fields of science since Aryabhata and Shushrutha to the recent achievements of ISRO scientists and the digital science revolution in the present scenario. He said that National Science Day is being celebrated in the context of the research of India's proud Nobel laureate Sir C V Raman under the title ‘Raman Effect’. He praised Sir C V Raman's unique contribution to the world of science.

The vice chancellor of the university, Dr Praveen Martis SJ, presided over the function. He said that this programme will give motivation to science students and make a great contribution to the country through scientific research.

Dr Ishwar Bhat, director of Xavier Block welcomed the gathering and explained the relevance of Science Day. He also taught everyone the oath of allegiance that will use scientific discoveries for the benefit of mankind with the wishes of the constitution and understand things scientifically. Dean of the department of physics Dr Aruna Kalkur introduced the chief guests. Valina Jenisha Dalmeda compered the programme.
