Mangaluru, Feb 28: The science club of Carmel School organized a vibrant and insightful celebration of National Science Day on February 28, to highlight the importance of science in daily life and the need to develop a scientific temperament in society. The event aimed to instill curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students while emphasizing the contributions of scientists, researchers, and educators to the world.

The programme commenced with a prayer service, which symbolically represented the impact of science on society. Special prayers were offered for doctors, scientists, teachers, researchers, and students, with meaningful representations of a globe, stethoscope, books, and other scientific elements. This was followed by a welcome dance performed to greet the students and staff.

BTo mark the significance of the day, a speech was delivered explaining the contributions of CV Raman, whose groundbreaking work in physics is celebrated on this occasion. The speakers highlighted the role of science in everyday life and the necessity of adopting a logical and analytical approach to scientific concepts.

A thought-provoking skit was performed by students, emphasizing the need to apply rational thinking and logical reasoning in science. This was followed by a live experiment conducted on stage, which captivated the audience and stimulated curiosity among students. The engaging demonstration showcased the power of observation, experimentation, and inquiry, reinforcing the core principles of scientific learning.

The principal, Sr Lilly Pushpa, addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of scientific temperament in shaping a progressive and informed society. She encouraged students to use science not only as a tool for knowledge but also as a means to contribute positively to humanity. Her words inspired the young minds to embrace science with enthusiasm and responsibility.

As the event drew to a close, a science-themed song was played, creating an atmosphere of inspiration and excitement. The programme was skilfully hosted by David, Abhinav, Kenneth, and Manvith, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the event. Sheral welcomed the gathering, while Nazra proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to everyone involved in making the celebration a grand success.
