Puttur, Feb 20: In a tragic incident, a 13-year-old student named Shravan, a Class 7 pupil at a private school in Uppinangady, died by suicide on February 18 night.

Shravan, the son of Dombayya Gowda from Tannirupanta village in Beltangady taluk, reportedly hanged himself from a ceiling fan inside his house.

According to sources, Shravan had dinner with his mother on Tuesday night, which included a chicken dish prepared by his aunt. After his mother fell asleep, he used a rope to hang himself. It is said that Shravan had saved some of the chicken dish for the next day’s meal and had also collected flower buds for the morning prayers.

Shravan was described as a cheerful student who got along well with his classmates, and no clear reason for his extreme step has been identified. He is survived by his parents and a sister.

In a mark of respect, the school where Shravan studied held a silent prayer meeting to honor his memory.

Very serious matter for all parents n society as a whole. Where r we heading, 13 yr old commiting suicide. When we were 13 yrs old we did not know the meaning of suicide. This is due to the social media influence. Suggest all parents to treat their kids like friends, keep mobile away from them. Also don't quarrel or fight in their presence.. RIP kid.

Proper investigation is required. What is the reason ? Fear of Exam? Bullying at school? Online Bullying? Friends or parents? Family members?

May his soul rest in peace. This is truly heartbreaking. It’s possible he was being bullied, either at school or elsewhere. Parents also have a responsibility here—sometimes they don’t realize how others treat their children. And when a child speaks up, they might dismiss it as nothing serious. Unfortunately, I’ve seen this happen too many times.

PARENTS PLS DONT GIVE MOBILES TO YOUR CHILDREN, AS THERE ARE CERTAIN GAMES WHICH HAVE EVIL INFLUENCE AND GIVES LOTS OF STRESS ON THE MIND AND AFFECT YOU PSYCHOLOGICALLY. . MONITOR THEM WHAT THEY ARE WATCHING TO SAVE THEM FROM DRASTIC STEPS.

Yes.. Now a days 2 things are killing youngsters. One is mobile and another is hate speeches, which is not taken seriously by people. Earlier days, people were in happy mood; because they were surrounded by positive energy. We should keep away minors from hate speeches. If they hear hate speeches continuously, they loose interest in life.

Really sad. Very difficult to even imagine a child at such age can think of ending life, no matter what the reason is.
