New Delhi, Feb 19: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has introduced a significant initiative to enhance India's digital governance with the launch of the Digital Brand Identity Manual (DBIM). This move, unveiled during the first 'Chief Information Officer (CIO) Conference 2025' in New Delhi, is part of the broader Gov.In initiative aimed at creating a unified and standardized digital identity across all government ministries, departments, and agencies.

The primary goal of the DBIM is to improve the user experience, make government platforms more accessible, and ensure a consistent and seamless digital presence for various government services. By introducing a "Uniform Governance" approach, the initiative will help standardize and unify the digital branding of government entities.

Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Jitin Prasada, emphasized that this move aligns with the government’s vision of "Minimum Government, Maximum Governance" and aims to bring coherence to the digital presence of government websites and platforms. “The DBIM will enhance the digital footprint of the government by making it easier for citizens to navigate and access essential services,” he said.

To support this digital overhaul, the government has introduced several tools to streamline operations and ensure consistency. The DBIM Toolkit has been developed to standardize digital branding across government websites. Additionally, the launch of the Gov.In CMS Platform will allow ministries and departments to manage their websites efficiently, while the Central Content Publishing System (CCPS) will ensure the consistency of content across digital platforms.

Social Media Campaign Guidelines have also been established to standardize government communication on online platforms, creating a unified approach to social media engagement.

As part of this initiative, the MeitY website has already been redesigned to follow the DBIM guidelines, and several other ministry websites have migrated to the Gov.In CMS platform. More government portals are expected to follow suit in the coming months.

By standardizing aspects such as color schemes, typography, and iconography, DBIM will create a cohesive digital experience across websites, mobile applications, and social media platforms, helping to establish a more credible and recognizable online presence for government agencies.

This initiative also aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of utilizing technology to improve governance and enhance citizen services.
