Kundapur, Jan 12: Union minister M Veerappa Moily predicted thumping win for his party in the elections being held in Uttar Pradesh and five other states shortly. He was addressing a press conference at Kollur in the taluk on Wednesday January 11.
“BJP has lost its sheen all over the country. Corruption rules the roost in Uttaranchal, where BJP is in power. It has lost the confidence of the people in Karnataka. BJP has no right to continue to power, after plunging the state into a cesspool of corruption,” he commented.
Moily felt that the environment at present is favourable to Congress everywhere, because of people-friendly programmes implemented by the central government. He promised to field people with integrity and without any blemishes in the coming elections on behalf of the party, duly revealing that discussions about this issue are being held at the top level.
To a question over the silence of Congress party over the incident in Sindhagi where Pakistani flag was hoisted in taluk office, he said his party always wishes that such incidents never occur. He questioned as to why BJP opposed the communal violence bill when the Congress proposed to table it. While stressing that Congress stands for unity, integrity, harmonious coexistence, and goodwill among all communities in the country, he lamented about drastically opposite principles BJP has been pursuing. “BJP is speeding towards doom in Karnataka. Congress leaders are committed to put up a united fight. We are sure to get popular mandate,” he claimed.
Congress leaders, Raju Poojary, P L Josh, Vasudev Yadiyala, Vandaballi Jayaram Shetty, Bhaskar Moily Mangalore, and others were present at the press conference.
