Bengaluru, Jan 29: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed his happiness at the speedy disposal of over 10,000 cases pending before revenue courts in the last 18 months as some of the cases have been pending since more than 10 years.
At present, barely cases were pending before the Tahsildar courts, the Chief Minister was informed by Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda during a review of the State Revenue Department at the Chief Minister’s Home Office of Krishna on Wednesday.
Siddaramaiah, however, cautioned the Department officials, that mere quantity in the total number of cases disposed is not important but the quality of the disposal was important as the people must get justice.
“If the disposal of all pending cases before various rev enue courts was qualitatively better, it will minimize the number of revision petitions and eliminate delays,” he said.
Siddaramaiah patted the minister on his efforts to expedite the use of automation in the Revenue Department as it has helped in completing the Khatha transfer work within a day in most of the cases.
The Chief Minister stressed the need for completing the land conversion work within a month as the government has already brought in necessary legal changes to eliminate land conversion process in the places where master plan preparation has been completed.
“The entire process will help land holders all over the State,” he said directing the officials to issue necessary orders.
Siddaramaiah asked the officials to ensure that master plan must be updated and renewed on a regular basis so as to avoid unnecessary problems for the people.
The Chief Minister said all the cases pending before the Tahsildar Courts must be disposed of within 3 months.
The Chief Minister said the disposal of cases in Sub-Divisional levels was not up to the mark unlike the speedy disposal in the Tahsildar courts.
Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda informed the Chief Minister that the technical problems at the Sub-Divisional levels were being sorted out. As many as 18 special Sub-Divisional Officers have been appointed in Bengaluru Division, the minister said.
The Minister informed the meeting that issuance of Khathas for all unofficial layouts has been stopped and steps to eliminate middlemen as well as corruption were also being taken.
