Udupi, Jan 27: A mock-up flat was unveiled at ‘Signature’, a commercial and residential building, developed by Associate Builders & Constructions (ABC) near Narayana Guru Temple, Bannanje Udupi, on Sunday January 26.
The mock-up flat was inaugurated by Dr Jerry Vincent Dias, managing director Mandavi Real Estate Developers, Udupi. A symbolic inauguration followed with the lighting of the lamp.
The formal event was inaugurated by Karunakar Shetty, CMD Peninsula Group of Hotels, Mumbai and Dubai, through a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony.
Yashpal Suvarna, MLA Udupi, addressing the gathering said, “Udupi is a developing district known for education, tourism, and religion. Signature provides a key amenity—shelter. This project began two years ago, and its completion aligns with the city's progress.”
Suresh Shetty Gurme, MLA Kaup, said, “Udupi is blessed by nature. Udupi is an educational hub where around 7 lac students come to Udupi from different parts of the country for education. We should provide sufficient housing facilities for them.”
Jayakar Shetty Indrali, president Udupi district Co-operative Union, highlighted the importance of new projects in regional development, pledging financial support from their institution.
Manohar Shetty, president CREDAI Udupi, pointed out a shift in consumer behaviour, where people now prefer to see mock-up flats before purchasing, calling for better town planning support for builders.
Dr Jerry Vincent Dias, Mandavi Real Estate Developers, Udupi, said, “We get everything in Udupi. The main challenge we are facing is housing. Around 15 crore people do not have shelter, out of it 10 crore people live in tents. If the government supports builders, we will build houses for the underprivileged.”
Chaitra Shetty presented the PPT of the project on the occasion. Advocate Umesh Shetty Kalathuru, welcomed the gathering. Advocate Sahana Kundar, compered the event and delivered the vote of thanks.

About Signature
