Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) celebrates its 76th Republic Day with patriotism

Manipal, Jan 26: Manipal Academy of Higher Education celebrated its 76th Republic Day on January 26. The event was held at KMC Greens to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India and honour the sacrifice of the freedom fighters through spectacular pageantry of parade and eloquent addressment.

The programme began with the welcome address by Dr Srinivas Mutalik, principal, MCOPS, Manipal, followed by unfurling of the National flag by the pro-chancellor Dr H S Ballal and then followed by the National anthem. The Republic Day message was delivered by Dr Sharath K Rao, pro vice-chancellor – health sciences, MAHE, Manipal. The entire event was organised by MCOPS Manipal and hosted by by Dr Angel Treasa Alex, associate professor, MCOPS, Manipal.

Dr Sharath K Rao, pro-vice chancellor, health sciences MAHE, Manipal delivered the Republic Day message: "On this 76th Republic Day, let us recognise that education is not just a means to personal growth but a powerful tool for nation-building. As educators and students, we are entrusted with the responsibility to uphold the ideals of justice, equality, and liberty enshrined in our Constitution. Swami Vivekananda's words, 'Arise, awake, and stop not until the goal is achieved,' inspire us to strive relentlessly for progress."

He said "In alignment with Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas, we must blend our rich cultural heritage with modern advancements to create a harmonious balance between tradition and progress. By preserving India’s timeless values while fostering innovation and growth in technology, infrastructure, and social equity, we can shape a sustainable and inclusive future."

"The seeds of change are sown in institutions like ours, where diversity and learning thrive. Together, we can ensure India stands tall as a global leader, embodying dignity, equality, and prosperity for all," he said.

Lt Gen (Dr) M D Venkatesh, VSM (Retd), vice-chancellor, MAHE, Dr Narayana Sabhahit, pro vice-chancellor (technology & science), MAHE, Dr Raviraja N S, chief operating officer (operations), MAHE Manipal, Dr Giridhar P Kini, registrar, MAHE, Manipal and along with other delegates were present. 

At the end of the event, the vote of thanks speech was rendered by Dr Usha Nayak, vice-principal, MCOPS, Manipal fostering a sense of pride and patriotism among everyone present there. The participants and the winners were awarded to acknowledge their efforts to participate and make the event successful.

Health sciences institutions like Kasturba Medical College, (KMC) Manipal College of Dental Sciences, (MCODS), Manipal College of Nursing, (MCON), Manipal School of Nursing, (MSON) Manipal College of Health Professionals,(MCHP), Science and Research institutions like Manipal School of Life Sciences,(MSLS), International Center for Applied Sciences,(ICAS),Manipal School of Information Sciences (MSIS)Manipal Institute of Virology (MIV),Technical Science institutions like Manipal Institution of Technology, (MIT) Manipal, Management institutions like T A Pai Management Institute, (TAPMI),Manipal Institute of communication,(MIC)and other reputed institutions like Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, (MCOPS),Welcome Group Graduate School of Hotel Administration, (WGSHA), Department of Commerce, (DOC) Manipal School of Architecture & Planning (MSAP), Prasanna School Of Public Health (PSPH),NCC, MAHE, ASARE, Trust, Security, MAHE took part in this celebration with full galore and pride.

The contingent of Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, (MCOPS) Manipal, bagged the 1st best contingent.  Welcome Group Graduate School of Hotel Administration, (WGSHA) Manipal was awarded the 2nd best contingent,  and Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Manipal, (MCODS) bagged the 3rd best contingent award.
