New Delhi, Jan 17: Quick commerce platform Blinkit has established a temporary store at the grand Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, offering pooja essentials and daily needs with a promise of delivery within 10 minutes.
Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, took to social media platform X to announce the launch. “We’ve opened a temporary Blinkit store at Mahakumbh Mela to serve pilgrims and tourists,” he said.
The 100 sq ft store is strategically located to deliver essentials in key areas such as Arail Tent City, Dome City, ITDC Luxury Camp, and Devrakh. Pilgrims can purchase items such as milk, fruits, vegetables, chargers, power banks, towels, blankets, and even Triveni Sangam Jal bottles.
Dhindsa further stated that the store caters to both individual consumption and donations, with curated assortments of pooja needs, food items, and utility products.
The Mahakumbh 2025, held once every 12 years, is expected to attract over 450 million devotees from around the globe. The event, which began with the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, saw around 1.60 cr devotees take a holy dip at the Sangam by noon.
A 21-member foreign delegation from 10 countries also participated in the spiritual rituals at the sacred Sangam on Thursday, adding to the event's international appeal.
Industry experts estimate that brands will spend around Rs 1,800-2,000 crore on advertising campaigns during the Mahakumbh, leveraging AI-powered themes, LED screens, virtual assistants, and mobile apps to engage with visitors.
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) projects a revenue generation of Rs 1.2 lac cr for Uttar Pradesh during the event. Government estimates suggest that Mahakumbh 2025 could generate Rs 2 lac cr in trade, with each of the 40 crore visitors spending an average of Rs 5,000.
The 45-day mega event will continue until February 26, offering a spiritual experience and economic opportunities on an unprecedented scale.
