Mangalore, Dec 23: Founded in 1986, St Joseph the Worker Higher Primary School’s grand Silver Jubilee celebrations were held in the school grounds at Vamanjoor, here on December 16 at 5.30 pm.
The Bishop of Mangalore Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza was the president of the function. He offered homage to St Joseph by garlanding the portrait. He honoured the teachers who offered free service for 10 years, earlier the school was admitted to grant in aid by the Govt.
Founder Fr Edwin Pinto, Sculpture of the school building Sr Maria Goretti, SRA, first correspondent late Fr Cyprian Coelho and generous services of Fr Bonaventure were gratefully recalled. Late Cyprian and the students were offered obituary by silent prayer. The school special sponsors were honoured by giving flowers.
Fr Wilson V D’Souza, secretary of CBE, Mangalore, Sr Daphne, Co-ordinator of DJSC,Vamanjoor, Melwyn D’Souza, member of Zilla Panchayath, Mangalore, Thahira Banu, lawyer and old student of the school, Moodushedde, Fr Joseph Cardoza the correspondent Sr Hildegard, Sr Lenita, the Headmistress, Austin D’Souza, honorary president of PTA, of the school were on the Dais.
Fr Joseph Cardoza the correspondent of the school welcomed the guests. Sr Joyline read the report, Sr Lenita the Headmistress proposed vote of thanks which was followed by a colouful variety entertainment programme presented by students and staff. Sr Annie and Anitha Menezes were the masters of the ceremony. The school children were given sumptuous meal in the noon.
