Dakshina Kannada, Udupi see rise in winter chill

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru/Udupi (MS)

Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 17: The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi experienced a notable increase in winter chill on Monday morning, followed by warmer temperatures during the day.

The cold weather intensified in the region after a gap of 10 days, with some rural areas also witnessing foggy conditions in the early hours.

The maximum temperature in Mangaluru on Monday was recorded at 32.4°C, while the minimum dropped to 21.1°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast dry weather for the time being, with no rain expected.

The IMD also reported the development of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal. While the probability of it intensifying into a cyclone is minimal, Tamil Nadu is expected to receive significant rainfall due to the system.

@Shankar, Mangaluru . Bring down the taxes on liquor, let people spend more on liquor Suggestion is not bad. Pleasant climatic condition, Tax (GST) reduction on premium drinks. Al such opportunities will surely pav the way and opportunities for fast food and take away snacks, grilled or fried food especially kabab and Tikka. I would like to join you if to share good times. This cannot be termed as chilly weather; only little pleasant in the mornings; after 11, it turns very sunny & hot; with rains interspersed in between many people are getting flu/influenza type of viral infections!

Back in 1980s we used to wear warm n sweaters starting November until February., especially in the morning. Now winters ( btw 21°c is NOT winter) last only for a week or two.

The cash crunched state government should make use of this opportunity. Bring down the taxes on liquor, let people spend more on liquor, thus generating more income to the government.
