Mangaluru, Dec 15: Srinivas University’s Institute of Physiotherapy hosted the national-level physiotherapy conference WOMCON '24: Blooming Women’s Health – Emerging Trends in Physiotherapy on December 14, 2024, at Hotel Saffron Srinivas. The event brought together esteemed experts, researchers, and practitioners to discuss advancements and challenges in women's health.
The conference began with a formal inaugural ceremony, graced by distinguished dignitaries. Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, chancellor of Srinivas University and president of the A Shama Rao Foundation, presided over the event. The guests of honour included Smt Vijayalakshmi R Rao, trustee of A Shama Rao Foundation, Dr K Satyanarayan Reddy, vice chancellor of Srinivas University, and Dr Ajay Kumar, registrar (development), Srinivas University.
Dr Thrishala Noronha, dean in charge of the Institute of Physiotherapy, delivered the welcome address. Each dignitary emphasized the significance of the conference and the need to address pressing women’s health issues. The conference briefing was presented by Dr Radhika Gopal S, organizing secretary, who highlighted the importance of women's health and rehabilitation. Dr Aishwarya Sonwane, organizing joint secretary, delivered the vote of thanks.
The conference featured five engaging speaker sessions, attracting over 100 delegates from various colleges in and around Mangaluru. The speakers shared valuable insights on pressing issues affecting women’s health, leading to thought-provoking discussions.
A key highlight was the panel discussion on infertility, which explored various aspects of the condition. Additionally, a scientific poster presentation competition showcased innovative research and projects related to women's health. The best poster presentation was recognized with prize money, celebrating outstanding student contributions to the field.
The conference concluded on a high note, reinforcing the importance of emerging trends in physiotherapy for improving women’s health.
