Bangalore: Government Contemplating Alternative Names for Lokayukta?

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Dec 21: The state government seems to have made up its mind not to remain stubborn on the appointment of Justice S R Bannurmath as the state Lokayukta. The government is forced to bend, as the state Governor, Hansraj Bhardwaj, has stood the ground and reiterated that he will not approve the name of Justice Bannurmath for the above post at any cost.

Before this, the Chief Minister is likely to meet the Governor in a final effort to convince the Governor to change his stand. The CM said that if the Governor sticks to his earlier stand and does not accede to the request of the government to reconsider his stand, the government will consider other names.

A meeting of BJP legislators had recently decided to complain to the President of India against the non-cooperative attitude of the Governor on this issue. In view of recent political changes in the state and the centre, the government, it is said, thinks it better to become lenient on the issue and give in to the demands of the Governor on this issue.
