Bantwal: Forest Squad Arrests Man With Endangered Tortoises

Bantwal, Dec 20: Mangalore special forest mobile squad policemen arrested 38-year-old Rajesh Kumar at Narikombu, near here, on Saturday December 17 and seized nine rare tortoises.
 
The special forest mobile squad sub-inspector Manjunath K R nabbed Rajesh Kumar at Adipila, when he was taking the tortoises to be sold to a contact.



 

The tortoises were an endangered species that had black and white star marks.
 
The police handed Rajesh over to the custody of Range Forest Officer at Bantwal and registered cases under the Wildlife Trafficking Act.

    From where did he get these tortoises ? If he has caught it from forest which the Government or any others property then he shud be punished.
