Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (MS)

Puttur, Dec 9: An ambulance veered off the road and crashed into the yard of a house at 34 Nekkiladi near Uppinangady on Monday December 9, after the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle.

The ambulance, traveling from Puttur to Nekkiladi on Vanasuma Nursery Road, suddenly swayed to one side, damaging the compound wall of the house.

The vehicle narrowly missed colliding with the house itself.

Schoolchildren standing near the road miraculously escaped unscathed. The ambulance, operated by Seva Bharati of Kanyadi, was en route to a health camp. Fortunately, the driver also escaped without any injuries.

So, in case of emergency, the ambulance driver will decide your fate much before even doctor gets to see you. Clearly, this driver was enjoying his driving so much that he lost control when no one was watching. Somehow, by and large my observation has been that ambulance drivers are much more responsible when patients were onboard; there may be few exceptions.

most of these drivers does not have the basic driving sense..they think just because they driver an ambulance the road should be like zero traffic...it is true that they should make an attempt to save life...but at the same time life of other individuals is also precious..

Very often the drivers of ambulances take advantage of their vehicle being an ambulace drive wrecklessly even when they are not ferrying a patient. They must be given a double penalty.

Very true. Speed kills innocents, luckily here the school children were saved by the grace of God. Even if there is a patient inside ambulances should follow all traffic rules, to save a patient, healthy people cannot be injured or killed. Ambulances should be equipped with necessary resuscitation equipment and personnel so that hurry / speed is out of question.
