Mangaluru, Dec 6: The Mangaluru CCB police successfully apprehended two drug peddlers, including a Nigerian national, involved in the transportation and sale of MDMA from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. They seized 200 grams of MDMA, a banned narcotic substance.
Following the recent arrest of Iqbal by Bajpe police for drug peddling in their jurisdiction, information was gathered about suppliers involved in providing MDMA to the accused. Acting on this lead, the CCB police conducted a special operation and detained two accused.
They are Darshan KG (25), a resident of No. 14, Chandan Nilaya, 10th Cross, Puttanna School Road, Puneeth Layout, Andrahalli, Vishwaneedam Post, Bengaluru North and currently residing at Radha Mani’s rental house, Door No. 16, opposite Reliance Fresh Mart, Nazarbad 3rd Stage, Mysuru and Chika Joseph Eze (26), son of Sunday, a Nigerian national residing at No. 8, Varma Nivas, Rakshapuram Layout, Bettahalsoor, Bengaluru. His permanent address is Uli Village, Ihala, Anambra State, Nigeria.
The police seized MDMA worth Rs 10,00,000, a Maruti Baleno car, five mobile phones, five debit cards from various banks, seven SIM cards, and a digital weighing scale. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be Rs 18,25,500. The accused and the seized items have been handed over to Bajpe police for further investigation.
The investigation revealed that the accused operated from Bengaluru, supplying MDMA to individuals in Mangaluru for illegal profit. Chika Joseph Eze entered India in May 2023 on an employment visa and worked as a hairdresser in Yelahanka, Bengaluru. A case was previously registered against him at Bengaluru Yelahanka New Town police station for drug trafficking. He was released on bail around four months ago.
The police suspect that more individuals are involved in this drug trafficking network, and efforts are ongoing to trace them.
The operation was led by CCB ACP Manoj Kumar Nayak, with the support of police inspector Shyam Sundar H M, PSI Sudeep MV, ASI Ram Poojary, and other CCB personnel.
