Bantwal: Woman killed, 8 injured in car-auto collision near Bambila

Bantwal, Dec 5: A woman was killed and eight others injured in a crash between a car and an auto near Bambila, Vagga. The accident occurred when a Ritz car, traveling from Mangaluru to Punjalakatte, collided with the auto.

The deceased, Tilak (40), wife of Harish from Panjikallu Bandottu, died at the scene. The injured included Yashaswini, Geetha, Revathi, Saraswati, Vedavathi, Rajeevi, and children Digant and Dishani. They were all traveling in the auto, which had been hired from Narayana Poojari of Panjikallu.

The group had attended a "Seemanta" (baby shower or pregnancy ritual) ceremony in Madwa and was returning home when the collision occurred. They had rented the rickshaw, driven by Narayana Poojari from Panjikallu.

While Tilak died on the spot, the others sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik visited the hospital to check on the victims' health and later paid his respects to Tilak's family at the Bantwal Government Hospital, where her body was taken.

The incident has been reported at the Panemangalore Traffic Police Station, and a case has been filed.
