Coastal Karnataka records excessive post-monsoon rainfall

Mangaluru, Dec 5: The coastal region of Karnataka has witnessed its highest post-monsoon rainfall, with incessant rains lashing the area over the past few days.

In Dakshina Kannada district, the expected rainfall for the period between November 28 and December 4 is 4.8 mm. However, this year, the district received 82.4 mm, a staggering 1,617% increase. Udupi district, which typically receives 5.8 mm during the same period, recorded 63.7 mm of rainfall.

Comparatively, other regions of Karnataka have also experienced higher-than-average post-monsoon rainfall. South interior Karnataka saw an 813% increase, the Malnad region 528%, north interior Karnataka 16%, and the coastal region recorded a remarkable 962% increase.

Within Dakshina Kannada, individual taluks experienced record-breaking percentages of rainfall compared to the norm: Beltangady (966%), Bantwal (1,615%), Mangaluru (3,023%), Puttur (669%), Sullia (2,755%), Moodbidri (1,281%), Kadaba (2,067%), Mulky (4,933%), and Ullal (3,456%).

In Udupi district, Karkala taluk recorded 726%, Kundapur 209%, Udupi taluk 2,641%, Byndoor 31%, Brahmavar 1,655%, Kaup 4,695%, and Hebri 504% more rainfall than usual.

The post-monsoon period, which spans from October 1 to December 4, typically sees the coastal region receiving 174.1 mm of rain. This year, with a month still remaining in the period, rainfall has already surpassed the target by 31%.

    one more evidence that the karu naadu is given big aashirwaad of almighty because the land is ruled by honest king like CM...Bahu Paraak Lord Siddaraya..i know my bahu paraaks will cause heart burn for many andh bhakts..but truth is always bitter...hopefully burnol bhagya will be announced soon
