Mangalore: Lions Club Christmas Celebration Spreads Cheer

Magalore, Dec 18: We Indians are strongly rooted in religion. Let this Christmas fulfil the wish of every Indian and bring joy to the country, said Fr Ronnie Prabhu, director, Fatima Retreat Center at St Sebastian hall here on Saturday, December 17.

Delivering the Christmas message at a programme organized by Lions Club International, Fr Ronnie Prabhu said that there is goodness in every individual, and that one must always do good to others. The idea of Santa Claus and the Christmas Tree convey the values of giving, sharing and hope, he added.

He also said that one must respect all religions and participate in each other's joy, be it Diwali, Christmas or Eid. He also wished success for Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement, and hoped that the evil of corruption is eradicated.

Ln P Kishore Rao, district governor 324-D5 of Lions Club greeted the gathering on Christmas and said that the month of Christmas brings much joy for all. "Like Jesus, Mahatma Gandhi also advocated peace and non-violence," he said, adding, "There are a number of barriers between people like caste, religion, region and principles. We must overcome them and consider everyone as brothers and sisters and try to help them."

Ln Kishore Rao honoured Rajesh Victor Heri and his wife on the occasion.

Ln Alwyn Patric Patrao, Ln Mallika Rao, Ln Nirmala Bridget Heri, Ln M B Sadashiv, Ln K C Prabhu, and other dignitaries were present.

Rajesh Victor Heri welcomed the gathering, Edwin Walter delivered the vote of thanks.

Later, various cultural programmes were performed by the students of schools and colleges.
