Udupi: ‘Aasare’ counselling cell of SMVITM organises visit to Asha Nilaya

Media Release

Udupi, Oct 30: Aasare, the counselling cell of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Engineering and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, organized a heartfelt visit to Asha Nilaya, a school for specially challenged children in Shanthinagar, Udupi. The visit aimed to foster social sensitivity among students and offer them meaningful experiences in engaging with differently-abled individuals.

The visit was conducted by first-year students of SMVITM, along with members of the Aasare counselling cell. Dr Sadananda L and Yashaswini A S accompanied the students during the programme, guiding them throughout the activities.

The objective of the visit was to help students understand the challenges faced by the children of Asha Nilaya, conduct fun activities, motivate them, and distribute food. This experience also gave students an opportunity to reflect on their own privileges with a sense of gratitude.

A group of 62 students and several faculty members participated in the event. The interactions between the SMVITM students and Asha Nilaya’s children were heartwarming, with students actively engaging and forming friendly bonds. They performed an entertaining program, including songs, dances, and games, bringing joy to over 60 children from Asha Nilaya.

For the faculty, the visit served as a humbling reminder of life's uncertainties and the importance of showing respect, compassion, and empathy toward others.

The visit, organized by Aasare, reflects SMVITM's commitment to promoting community engagement and developing students into socially responsible individuals.
