Udupi, Oct 16: Town police sub-inspector Puneet Kumar, acting on a tip-off, conducted a raid at Cabral's Gun House located in Vidyajyothi Building, opposite GTS School, in Udupi city on October 15. The raid uncovered a stockpile of firecrackers stored without a proper license.

Upon questioning Ronald G Cabral, who was present at the scene, he admitted to purchasing the firecrackers with the intent of selling them during the Diwali festival. A total of 40 kg of firecrackers were seized from the premises.

The police found that Ronald G Cabral had stored these explosive materials without taking any precautionary measures, posing a significant risk to public safety. The lack of a valid license also made the storage of these explosives illegal.

A case has been registered against the accused under Udupi town police station. The investigation is ongoing.
