Nashik (Maharashtra), Nov 30 (IANS): Nine people were killed when the tempo in which they were travelling collided with a stationary truck on a highway near Malegaon town early Wednesday, police said.
"The speeding tempo rammed into the truck parked beside the road and was thrown several metres away by the impact," investigating officer Adinath Budhwant told IANS from the site, around 300 km from Mumbai. The nine victims from Nashik city, on their way back after attending some functions in Dhule district, were killed instantly.
The accident took place around 5 a.m. on the busy Mumbai-Agra national highway running through Nashik district, he said.
Five people injured in the collision have been admitted to the Gerna civil hospital in Malegaon.
