Mangalore: Display of Finest Products at ‘Silk Mark Expo’ from Nov 29

Mangalore, Nov 27: The authorized Silk Mark retailers will showcase and sell the finest and the purest silk products from all over India at the Silk Mark Expo-2011 which will be held from November 29 to December 4.
This was informed at the pre-launch press briefing that was held at Ladies Club here on Saturday November 26.
Addressing the media persons, G Lokanathan, assistant director, Central Silk Board, said that the expo promotes the fusion labels that will be the mark of the standard fixture of all silk saris sold by the retailers. Use of silk-mark-tag promoted by the Silk Mark Organization of India of the Union ministry of textiles, will be attached to the sari for permanent basis as it symbolizes its originality and purity. Our intension is to move a step forward from the counterfeiters and we will use this fusion labels shortly and train every authorized users of the silk-tag-mark on how to use it, he said.
In association with the Silk Mark Organization of India the Expo will be held here at Karavali Utsava, Mangala Ground to promote the cause. It will be an exhibition- cum-sale of 100% pure silk products.
In the exhibition traditional qualitative saris like Banarasi, Kanjeevaram, Bandhni, Thanchoi, , Tussar, Muga, Baluchari, Bomkai, Jamavar, Paithani, Chanderi, Maheshwari, Gadwal, Garhwal silk, Khatan silk, kora silk, raw silk and brocaded sarees among others will be available.
Apart from all this, a lecture on breeding of silk warm, sewing, weaving, conservation of silk saris will be given to the consumers by the experts.
Silk Mark Organization of India is promoted by the Government of India. Govindacharya and Shivakumar among other office-bearers were present at the press brief. At the press briefing held in Ladies Club, Film actress Smitha and some of the models shared the ramp walk for the promotion of silk saris.
