Moodbidri, Sep 28: The installation ceremony of the office bearers of Sakshama: Alva's Women's Cell was held at Kuvempu Hall, Alva's Degree College, with great enthusiasm and a commitment to empowering women. The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Dr Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, who served as the installation officer and keynote speaker for the day.
Shobha Hegde president Bunt’s association Moodudire, Dr Kurian principal Alva’s College and Dr Greeshma Alva the convenor of Sakshama. The newly appointed office bearers were formally introduced during the ceremony, president Dr Mookambika GS, vice president, Dr Surekha Pai secretary Shazia Khanum, joint secretary Dr Deepa Kotari, treasurer Dr Catherine Nirmala took up the charge as the office bearers.
Dr Alva in his keynote address commended the newly appointed team and stressed the importance of women-centric initiatives. He encouraged the Women's Cell to focus on organizing impactful programmes like that not only uplift women but also foster leadership and innovation.
The event’s chief guest, Shobha Hegde, president of the Bunts Association, Moodbidri, and proprietor of Manjushree Driving Class, shared her insights on the evolving role of women in today’s society. In her inspiring speech, Hegde urged women to step forward, take on leadership roles, and be the change-makers in their communities. She expressed her heartfelt wishes to the new team and commended the association’s commitment to creating a platform for women to grow and excel.
One of the highlights of the event was the launch of ‘Sheores,’ a monthly newsletter by Sakshama, which will feature stories of exceptional women achievers. Dr Deepa Kotari, director of Alva's Centre for wellness training, briefed the gathering about the initiative. She elaborated on how Sheores aims to spotlight the inspirational journeys of women from various walks of life, serving as a beacon of motivation for the Younger generations.
Dr Mookambika, the newly installed president of Sakshama, outlined the future plans of the Women’s Cell. She emphasized the cell’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for women, with programmes focusing on skill development, mental health awareness, and leadership training. Under her leadership, the cell aims to create a robust platform for women to not only engage in meaningful discourse but also to take actionable steps toward their personal and professional growth.
The newly appointed secretary of the cell, concluded the ceremony by proposing the vote of thanks. She expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty, and students for their participation and support in making the event a grand success.
