Mangalore: Thieves Target Jewellery Stores, Loot Ornaments Worth Rs 20 Lac

Mangalore, Nov 24: Thieves entered two jewellery shops located on Hari Bhat Road in Haleangady Olapete in the taluk in the early hours on Thursday November 24, and decamped with silverware and gold ornaments totally worth about Rs 20 lac.
Sridurga Jewellers and Padmashree Jewellers were the targets of these thefts. Reportedly, owners of Sridurga jewellers lost valuables worth Rs 15 lac including 15 kg of silver and two gold chains.
The estimated loss suffered by Padmashree Jewellers has been estimated at about four lac rupees, comprising four kg of silver and other valuables.
Station house officer of Mulky, Basheer Ahmed, who rushed to the spot after receiving intimation, has estimated that the theft occurred between 2 and 3 am on Thursday.
A case has been registered in Mulky police station. Finger print experts and sniffer dogs were summoned to help investigations. So far, there are no clues about the perpetrators of these thefts, it is learnt.
