Kundapur, Nov 23: A woman died and four persons suffered injuries of various degrees, after a tipper which was being driven on the wrong side of the road collided with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation Bus. The incident occurred at Koravadi Cross on national highway 66 near Kumbhashi in the taluk on Tuesday November 22.
The deceased has been identified as Juliana (62), resident of Guddeangady Senapur in the taluk. The injured were admitted into a private hospital in the town.
The bus was bound for Bhatkal from Bangalore, when the tipper, which was moving towards Kota, swerved to the right side of the road, collided with the bus, and peeled off the protective cover on the right side of the bus’s body. The woman was thrown to the road due to the impact of the accident, and breathed her last on the spot.
The injured are Mahesh, conductor of the bus, and passengers, Sukanya, Jayaraj, and Shakira. The accident could have been much more ghastly, but for the fact that the bus had only a handful of passengers at the time.
A case was registered in Kota police station. Investigation has been taken up.
