Mangalore: District-level Sahitya Sammelan to Begin on November 18

Mangalore, Nov 15: Dakshina Kannada Zilla Sahitya Parishat plans to hold its 17th District-level Sahitya Sammelan for two days at Sri Sathya Sai Education Trust, Alake, on Friday November 18 and Saturday November 19.

Speaking at a press conference, Krishna J Palemar, head of the welcome committee, explained the procedure of the convention. “Budget will be up to Rs 25 lac and the funds will be met from the donation of well-wishers and government help will be sought if necessary,” he added.

Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president, Kannada Literary Club, Dakshina Kannada, said that DV Sadananda Gowda, chief minister, Gurudevananda Swami of Odiyoor Mutt, and many other dignitaries will be at the programme. Answering queries, he said that they will honor 23 people from the district for their contribution to Kannada literature.

J M Ananthmoorthy, Raghu T Pai, and Nagaraj Kharvi were present at the press conference.
