Bijpaur, Nov 14: A prisoner, who tried to give a slip to the three policemen accompanying him, and also the policemen, were hospitalized, after all of them jumped out of a moving train. The condition of one of the policemen is said to be critical. He is being treated in the intensive care unit of a hospital.
Sidram Mangurale, the prisoner in question, had been brought here for being produced in a court in Indi in the district, by the Maharashtra policemen. They were escorting him back to Yerawada jail in Pune by train. Within 15 minutes after the train left Bijapur, the prisoner jumped out of the moving train. The policemen asked the railway staff to pull the chain and stop the train. In an anxiety to ensure that the prisoner does not escape, they too jumped out, one after the other, before the train stopped. All of them suffered fractures to their legs. The prisoner fainted immediately after jumping out.
The prisoner is being treated in a Bijpur hospital, while the policemen, Hanumanth Masa, Vikas Phule, and Srinath Kamble, are being treated in a hospital in Pune.
