Mangalore, Nov 7: As a foundation to the beginning of the great upcoming event 'Ek Dees Wilfyaba Songhim' an inter- parish Konkani Singing Competition, consisting of songs of Late Wilfy Rebimbus was organized by the Jeppu parishioners at St Joseph Seminary Hall on Sunday November 6 at 3.30 pm.
The evening commenced with a prayer song ‘Ye Deva Bappa’ in the voice of the great legend Late Wilfy Rebimbus.
Fr Nelson D’Almedia, parish priest of Jeppu welcomed the guest and the gathering.
A lamp was lit to offer tribute to Late Wilfy Rebimbus by Fr Nelson D’Almedia, Meena Rebimbus, Pamela Santos – vice president,
Vishwas Rebimbus, Charleen Rebimbus, Laveena D’dias,secretary.
Meena Rebimbus officially inaugurated the function, by singing the first song, ‘Jeevan’.
The competition then started with the age group of 10-15 years and was then followed by above 16 years category. This was a qualifying round for all the participants.
Totally 10 parishes participated in this event. The finalist were selected by the renowned panel of judges, Meena Rebimbus Rev. Fr. Pius James D’souza, OCD, Superior of Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, Allwyn Noronha, renowned coir master of Bajpe parish.
The much awaited grand finale will be held at St Joseph Church Grounds, Jeppu here on November 20 at 6 pm. The prizes to the winners will be distributed on November 27.
