Told to Focus on Studies, Aspiring Singer Aditya Nadig Ends Life
Bangalore, Nov 6 (Deccan Chronicle): He had everything going for him. Talented and popular, Aditya Nadig won many hearts singing on reality shows on television. But to the shock of his friends and family the 21-year-old committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his home at Ittamadu in Chennammanakere Acchkattu police limits on Friday night.
A student of APS College in Basavanagudi, Aditya was to appear for his final year BBM exams in less than a month and had reportedly been told by his parents to temporarily put a brakes on his singing to concentrate on his education.
His friends, who have mourned his passing on social networking sites, say he was depressed because he was about to lose a golden opportunity to make it big on the national scene. It appears he was recently asked by a national television channel to participate in its musical reality show, but his parents felt his education was more important with his final exams coming up. The police which is still investigating the suicide, however, revealed that it had been told by family members that they had had a lengthy argument with Aditya the previous day about his appearance on television.
“When he didn't come out of his room the next morning, they went to look for him and were shocked to see him hanging there”, the police added. His parents are in a state of disbelief as Aditya, born on August 15, Independence Day, was a pampered child. His father Ramaswamy, a retired government official, had even bought him a car on his last birthday. Having lavished her love on him, his mother Gayatri, cannot begin to understand what could have prompted her son to take such a drastic step. Aditya’s body was handed over to the family after the autopsy and a case of unnatural death has been registered by the police
