Udupi, Nov 4: 'Balakalakaar - 2011', an initiative undertaken by AIESEC Manipal University was held on Tuesday November 1 at the KMC Greens in Manipal, here.
It was a day-long event, where over 750 children from orphanages and NGOs in various places like Manipal, Udupi, Kundapur, Mangalore and the surrounding regions were given an opportunity to have a day filled with games, food, song and art.
Balakalakaar-2011 gave young children who are less fortunate and priveleged, a chance to have unbridled fun amidst colours, paint, music and games. It also gave the youth of Manipal a chance to spend a day with these deserving children and do their part in creating a better and brighter futurue for them. With the cause of Child Rights and Education, this event brought the youth one step closer in ensuring a promising future for these less fortunate children. The event aimed at bringing out the artist in every child, in addition to their holistic development
AIESEC, Manipal University, collaborated with the following NGO’s and schools in order to give their children a day to cherish: Balgraha (Mangalore), Bagini Samaj (Mangalore), Stella Maris convent (Beeri, Mangalore), Shri Krishna Balaniketan (Udupi), St. Joseph (Kundapur, Girls orphanage), St Joseph (Mangalore), Maria Goretti(Kundapur), Namma Bhoomi (Kundapur), Asare(Manipal). Food and transportation for these children was arranged by AIESEC Manipal
University, which included a morning pick-up, a scrumptious lunch and a drop back to their respective institutions. The children were escorted to the venue and back by the caretakers as well as members of the organization.
Balakalakaar was attended by officials of Manipal University and attracted volunteers from all over Manipal.
Over 750 young children were impacted by the efforts of AIESEC Manipal University on the auspicious day of Karnataka Rajyotsava. The paintings of the kids will be on display for students and faculty of Manipal University the following week.
