Kundapur, Jul 22: In response to a landslide in the ghat areas, the railway department has approved the operation of a special train every weekend starting from July 26. This special service will run between Bengaluru and Karwar via Padil.
The special train will depart from Sir M Vishweshwaraiah Train Station in Bengaluru at 12:30 am, arriving in Udupi at 11:30 am. It will then reach Kundapur at 12:15 pm and continue to Karwar, arriving at 4:00 pm. The return journey will start the same night from Karwar at 11:30 pm, reaching Bengaluru the next day at 3:00 pm, with stops at Kundapur, Udupi, and the Padil bypass. The Padil bypass route saves two hours of travel time.
The appeal for the special train was made by Ganesh Puthran, president of the Kundapur Railway Welfare Committee, with the support of MP Srinivas Poojary. The MP approached the state minister for railways, V Somanna, who successfully secured the train allocation. The public has widely appreciated the efforts of the railway welfare committee.
