Bantwal, Nov 2: “Language is the basis of expression of emotions which binds human beings. Let every Kannadiga love his mother tongue Kannada,” said MLA B Ramanat Rai.
He was speaking at Rajyotsav celebrations held at the open air theatre, B C Road, on Tuesday November 1. It was organized by taluk national festivals celebrations committee.
Thumbe Pre-University College lecturer Dinesh Shetty Alike, in his keynote address, said that many veteran Kannadigas struggled to found Karnataka. He also urged the people to make concerted efforts in promoting Kannada that has rich history and cultural splendour.
Town councillor B Dinesh Bhandary, TP president Shailaja Shetty, steering committee president Madhav Mave, member Anita, block education officer Sudhakar K, child welfare officer Usman, and circle inspector Anil Kulkarni were present on the occasion.
Tahsildar T N Narayan Rao hoisted the flag. TP chief esecutive officer Vasant Raj Shetty welcomed the gathering. Sridar Gowda proposed the vote of thanks. Manju Vittal compered the programme.
The march past by scouts and guides from various schools was also held. Variety cultural programmes depicting the rich history of Kannada were staged afterwards.
