Bhatkal, Nov 1: The Jan Chetna Rath Yatra by senior BJP leader L K Advani entered Bhatkala at 9.30 pm on October 31 amidst tight security. He was welcomed by the Bhatkal BJP unit at Chitranjan circle.
Addressing the gathering, Advani said that he was happy to see so many people from Bhatkal welcoming his Yatra. He thanked the people for their support.
He further said that India's image is being tarnished in the eyes of the world, and everyone says we are a corrupt country. "The purpose of my Yatra is to tell the world that there are a few corrupt people in the government at the centre, but it does not mean the entire country is corrupt," he added.
On the issue of black money, he said Rs 25 lac crore lies in Swiss bank, and if this money is brought back to India there will be development in each and every village. India will change and there will be electricity, water, good roads and other amenities in every nook and corner, he said.
Advani gave a call for the eradication of corruption, recovery of black money and creation of a new India.
BJP ministers and leaders Astnotikar, Shivanand Naik, Ananth Kumar, Yeshurappa and others were present.
Police from Mangalore and Udupi, commando team and a bomb disposal squad too were deployed.
Traffic snarls hit the town for an hour, and even mobile network was jammed during Advani's journey from Bhatkal to Murdeshwar.
