Mangalore, Oct 31: St Joseph Engineering College held graduation day ceremony for sixth batch of BE students, third batch of MBA students and first batch students of MCA on Saturday October 29 at Vamanjoor, here.
Chief guest of the occasion, Prof T C Shivashankara Murthy, vice chancellor of Mangalore University called upon the students to be ready to take up the challenge of making India a superpower by 2020 as projected by the statistics.
Highlighting the statistics of university education in India, he stressed the need for boosting the number of students going for university education in order that the country reaches the goal of becoming a super power. Quality is the essence of education, he said.
Presiding over the function, Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza called upon the students to practice the ideals learnt in SJEC, be accountable to their inner voice and to society and always remember their College.
Principal Dr Joseph Gonsalves welcomed the gathering and gave details of the college results and achievements. Dr Rio D’Souza, dean (academic) administered the oath to the graduates. Director, Fr Valerian, D’Souza, designate director, Fr Joseph Lobo, assistant director, Fr Henry Mascarenhas were present on the dais.
Convener, Dr Raju K proposed the vote of thanks. Several high scoring students were honoured.
